LEAVE A LEGACY
What is it?
Environmental planning addresses the environmental issues within our local communities and evaluates the possible effects of future growth and development on air quality, water quality, and other natural resources. Impacts to the environment affect us all and it is critical to keep the health and safety of our planet at the top of our priorities.
What do we do?
The Truman Council obtains and administers grant opportunities for a wide variety of environmental projects. We also offer environmental reviews, hazard mitigation plans, water testing, watershed planning, and other vital services.
Environmental reviews are required for many projects to ensure that the proposed project does not negatively impact the surrounding environment and that the property site itself will not have an adverse environmental or health effect on land users.
Our counties contain 3 major watersheds that supply local drinking water, water for agriculture and manufacturing, recreation areas, and provide habitats for plants and animals. The protections of these watersheds is required for the protection of the communities and residents that rely on them. Testing allows you to know what is in your water. Hazard Mitigation Plans
Hazard Mitigation Plans reduce loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters. It begins with local communities identifying natural hazard risks and vulnerabilities that are common in their area and then developing a plan to mitigate those risks.
