COMMUNITY PLANNING
LEAVE A LEGACY
What is it?
Community planning is essential for facilitating economic growth and development which includes programs, policies, or activities that help to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for a community. Community planning allows us to provide a collaboration between residents and the city's local government to explain how they want their communities to look, feel, and function in the future. We do this by writing comprehensive plans, which is a process that determines a community's goals for their future in terms of community development, and these are typically help with zooning and other development of the town.
Truman can help by applying on behalf of and administrating any economic development grants for our communities, including but not limited to CDBG grants and Downtown Revitalization grants. Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) are used to help local communities strengthen their economy by improving local public infrastructure, streets, drainage, and bridges, which in turn helps support the local businesses as well as residents. Downtown Revitalization grants work by providing funding to construct, enlarge, extend, or otherwise improve community facilities within their downtown area.
