Transportation Planning
HSTCC works closely with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) through a mutually agreed-upon work program. The work program outlines the yearly tasks and deliverables required by MoDOT. The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) is responsible for the Regional Transportation System of the Barton, Jasper, Newton, and McDonald counties.
The TAC holds quarterly meetings to discuss transportation issues, projects, and planning initiatives vital to the Southwest Missouri region. These meetings incorporate area Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO’s), Regional Planning Organizations (RPO’s), and transportation planners of member communities.
The TAC concentrates on establishing a value system and prioritizing projects encompassing all transportation options for recommendation to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in conjunction with all government entities of the area.
